# Apology Message Crafter
Craft sincere, effective apology messages using a structured framework.
## When to Use
- "Help me apologize to {person} for {what happened}"
- "I messed up and need to make it right with {person}"
- "Write an apology for {situation}"
## Requirements
- **Brave Search MCP** for context-specific apology guidance
## Workflow
### Step 1 — Situation Details
- **Who are you apologizing to?** (partner, friend, boss, colleague, client, family)
- **What happened?** (specific action or behavior)
- **How did it affect them?** (if you know)
- **How long ago?**
- **Have you apologized before?** (first time, follow-up)
- **Medium** (in person, text, email, letter)
- **Desired outcome** (forgiveness, repair relationship, professional recovery)
### Step 2 — Research (if needed)
```
brave_web_search: "how to apologize for {SITUATION_TYPE} effectively"
brave_web_search: "sincere apology {CONTEXT} examples"
```
### Step 3 — Build Apology
Using the 5-Part Apology Framework:
```markdown
## Apology to {PERSON}
### Structure
1. **Acknowledge** — Name what you did (don't minimize)
2. **Take responsibility** — No "but", no excuses
3. **Empathize** — Show you understand the impact
4. **Make amends** — Specific action to repair
5. **Commit** — What you'll do differently
---
### Option 1 (Full & Direct)
{NAME},
{Acknowledge: "I want to apologize for {specific action}."}
{Responsibility: "That was my fault. There's no excuse for {what you did}."}
{Empathy: "I can only imagine how {emotion} that must have been for you, especially given {context}."}
{Amends: "I'd like to {specific repair action}. If there's something else that would help, I'm open to hearing it."}
{Commitment: "Going forward, I will {specific behavior change}."}
{Close: "I value {this relationship/our friendship/working together} and I'm committed to doing better."}
---
### Option 2 (Brief & Sincere)
{Short version — same framework, fewer words}
---
### Option 3 (Professional/Formal)
{Formal register — appropriate for workplace or client situations}
---
### ❌ What NOT to Say
- "I'm sorry you feel that way" (shifts blame to them)
- "I'm sorry, but..." (negates the apology)
- "If I offended you..." (implies they might be overreacting)
- "Everyone makes mistakes" (minimizes)
- "Let's just move on" (dismisses their feelings)
```
### Step 4 — Save
```bash
mkdir -p outputs/personal
cat > "outputs/personal/apology-draft-{DATE}.md" << 'EOF'
{APOLOGY_DRAFTS}
EOF
```
## Important Rules
- Never include "but" after "I'm sorry" — it cancels the apology
- Be specific about what you did wrong — vague apologies feel hollow
- Don't demand forgiveness — that's not yours to control
- Include a concrete behavior change, not just words
- Provide 2-3 tone options — the user knows their relationship best
- For serious situations, recommend delivering in person, not text
- This is writing help, not relationship counseling — recommend professionals for complex situations
## Example Prompts
- "Help me apologize to my partner for forgetting our anniversary"
- "I need to write a professional apology to a client for missing a deadline"
- "I said something hurtful to my friend — help me make it right"Related Skills
